Import an Outlook Calendar

This help doc explains how to import an Outlook calendar to your AddEvent calendar. This is convenient if you have created events on your personal/work calendar, as you can import them to your AddEvent calendar to share with your audience without having to recreate them in your dashboard. Once imported, they can be shared in the same ways as any other event or as part of a calendar. You can edit these events in your Outlook calendar, and your changes will be synchronized to AddEvent. Please note that any changes you need to make to the calendar's events must be made from the Outlook calendar. The events cannot be edited within the AddEvent dashboard.

The calendar must already be created to add an external calendar. Click here to learn how to create a calendar.

  1. In your Outlook Calendar, click on the settings icon in the top right-hand corner.
  1. Next, click Shared calendars.

  2. Under Publish a Calendar, select the calendar you would like to publish from the dropdown options. Then, click Select permissions, choose Can view all details, and publish the calendar.

  1. Click on the link for the ICS file and copy the link.

  2. Now go back to your AddEvent dashboard, and click Edit calendar on the calendar you would like to use for your Outlook calendar by clicking the three dots beside the name.

  1. Scroll down to the Import/sync events from external calendars section. Then, to link the Outlook calendar and sync the events contained within it to your AddEvent calendar, click the Add external calendar link as shown in the image below.
  1. Paste the ics link into the box and click Save
  1. You may be asked to provide the timezone for your Outlook calendar. Select your timezone from the dropdown options and click Save.

Important to know

  • The events will be visible in this calendar and to this calendar’s subscribers, but they will not be editable using AddEvent.
  • External events cannot be edited via AddEvent. Changes to the event(s) must be made in the external calendar, and those changes will sync with AddEvent.
  • External calendar events created more than 1 month ago will not be included in the import unless they are part of a recurring event.
