Subscription Calendars
Subscription Calendar Overview
A subscription calendar is a type of calendar feed that allows users to add a calendar or entire set of events to their personal or work calendars. With AddEvent, you can create a subscription calendar that either collects subscriber information or allows anonymous subscriptions, based on your preferences.
Benefits of a Subscription Calendar
- Add Multiple Events at Once: Instead of manually adding individual events, all events in a subscription calendar are added together.
- Automatic Updates: Subscription calendars maintain a dynamic connection with the original calendar. When events are updated, added, or deleted, these changes will automatically sync with subscribers' calendars after a short delay, ensuring they always have the latest information.
How to Share a Subscription Calendar
Sharing a subscription calendar allows others to dynamically connect to your calendar and receive updates for events as they’re added or changed. Unlike sharing individual events, sharing a subscription calendar creates a live connection between the subscriber's calendar and the AddEvent calendar.
It is not possible to subscribe on behalf of a user. Each subscriber must take action to connect their calendar to the AddEvent calendar, as this dynamic connection requires their explicit authorization. This also means it is not possible to upload a list of calendar subscribers.
Common Use Cases for Subscription Calendar
Subscription calendars are versatile and can be used to increase event attendance, boost awareness, and improve engagement. Here are some examples:
Athletics
Subscription calendars are ideal for sports teams, athletic facilities, or event organizers. Fans can subscribe to the full season's schedule or specific events, keeping them connected to the team or facility year-round.
Conferences
For multi-day events, such as conferences with numerous sessions, a subscription calendar helps attendees see all sessions at once in their calendar. This provides clear organization and keeps attendees informed on what’s happening next.
Education
Educational institutions can use subscription calendars to share events such as class schedules, deadlines, campus activities, and sports events. Students can subscribe to access calendars specific to their class schedules or to stay updated on school-wide events.
Marketing channels
Since people frequently check their calendars, listing your events on a subscription calendar provides high visibility. Subscribers will see upcoming events directly in their calendar, making this an effective tool for ongoing engagement and awareness-building.
