Event Time Zone
This help doc explains how to configure time zones for individual events, default calendar settings, and how time zones are displayed on event landing pages. Properly setting time zones ensures attendees see the correct event times, regardless of their location.
How to Set a Time Zone for an Event
- Select the event to update and then click Edit.
- In the editing options, find the time zone dropdown menu and select the desired time zone from the list. This will apply the new time zone setting to this specific event.

What Happens if No Time Zone Is Assigned to an Event?
If an event does not have a time zone assigned:
- The event time will remain the same for all attendees, regardless of the end-user's location or local time zone.
- This setup is ideal for events that need to occur at the same hour globally, such as daily reminders or announcements (e.g., "Daily Health Tip at 9:00 AM").
However, we recommend you assign a time zone to location-specific events to avoid confusion.
Understanding the Time Zone Selector on Event Landing Pages
When a user views an event landing page, the event time will automatically adjust to their local time zone based on their IP address.
- Automatic Adjustment: The displayed event time is localized for the user’s region.
- Manual Adjustment: Users can manually select a different time zone using the Time zone Selector on the landing page.
Adjusting the time zone on the landing page does not change the time zone in which the event is saved to the user’s calendar. The event will always save in its originally assigned time zone and convert to the user’s calendar time zone upon addition.

How to Set a Default Time Zone for All Events in a Calendar
To ensure all events in a specific calendar are created with the same time zone by default:
- Open your AddEvent dashboard and select the name of the calendar you want to edit.
- Click the three dots and then click edit.
- Select the default time zone you want for that calendar from the dropdown of time zones.
- Save your changes. This time zone will now be applied to all newly created events in that calendar.

For instructions on editing a calendar, refer to this help doc.
How to Ensure Events Automatically Display in the User’s Local Time Zone
AddEvent is designed to make events user-friendly across time zones. Here’s how to ensure the calendar adapts to attendees’ local time:
- Assign a time zone to the event during creation. This ensures the event time adjusts dynamically for the attendees’ location when they view it.
- The event will adjust to the end-user's calendar time zone settings, no matter what sharing method you use.
Daylight Savings
Daylight Savings time is automatically applied to all events with a time zone. You do not need to take any action, AddEvent has the time changes covered.
