Set a Timezone
This help doc explains how to configure timezones for individual events, default calendar settings, and how timezones are displayed on event landing pages. Properly setting timezones ensures attendees see the correct event times, regardless of their location.
How to Set a Timezone for an Individual Event
- to set a specific timezone, start on the dashboard.
- Select the event to update, and then click Edit.
- In the editing options, find the timezone dropdown menu and select the desired timezone from the list. This will apply the new timezone setting to this specific event only.
What Happens if No Timezone Is Assigned to an Event?
If an event does not have a timezone assigned:
- The event time will remain the same for all attendees, regardless of their location or local timezone.
- This setup is ideal for events that need to occur at the same hour globally, such as daily reminders or announcements (e.g., "Daily Health Tip at 9:00 AM").
However, for location-specific events, it is recommended to assign a timezone to avoid confusion.
Understanding the Timezone Selector on Event Landing Pages
When a user views an event landing page, the event time will automatically adjust to their local timezone based on their IP address.
- Automatic Adjustment: The displayed event time is localized for the user’s region.
- Manual Adjustment: Users can manually select a different timezone using the Timezone Selector on the landing page.
Adjusting the timezone on the landing page does not change the timezone in which the event is saved to the user’s calendar. The event will always save in its originally assigned timezone and convert to the user’s calendar timezone upon addition.

How to Set a Default Timezone for All Events in a Calendar
To ensure all events in a specific calendar are created with the same timezone by default:
- Open your AddEvent dashboard and navigate to the calendar settings.
- Select the default timezone you want for that calendar.
- Save your changes. This timezone will now be applied to all newly created events in that calendar.

How to Ensure Events Automatically Display in the User’s Local Timezone
AddEvent is designed to make events user-friendly across timezones. Here’s how to ensure the calendar adapts to attendees’ local time:
- Assign a timezone to the event during creation. This ensures the event time adjusts dynamically for the attendee’s location when they view it.
- The event will adjust to the end-user's calendar timezone settings no matter what sharing method you use.
Daylight Savings
Daylight Savings time is automatically applied to all events with a timezone. You do not need to take any action, AddEvent has the time changes covered.
